Bel Air, MD – Brightview of Bel Air and Avondell retirement communities have been awarded the ‘Employer of the Year Award’ by the national Committee for the Employment of People with Disabilities, and will receive the award at a ceremony on October 16, 2008, 11:30am, at the Maryland Golf and Country Club in Bel Air, Maryland. The two senior living communities, managed by Brightview Senior Living, were nominated for the award by the Association of Retarded Citizens (ARC) of Northern Chesapeake in Harford County, for their dedicated hiring of people with disabilities.

Marilynn Duker, President of Brightview Senior Living said, “I could not be more pleased and proud of the honor given by the Committee and ARC to our community teams at Brightview Bel Air and Avondell. The director and associates have worked diligently for more than five years bringing ARC members into the Bel Air community, providing them with important life skills and valuable work experience. The ARC members have been terrific additions to our Brightview teams.”

Executive director of Avondell & Brightview Bel Air, Eileen Adams, said, “My objective in working with the ARC members is to provide an opportunity for their members and our associates to learn as a team. It allows my department heads to expand their management and team building skills. It’s a pleasure to have successful outcomes with these associates, and to get to know them as individuals.” Jan Stauffer, a Job Development Director at the ARC adds, “Brightview and their director Eileen have been a huge supporter of the ARC employment program. Brightview is committed to the concept of employing our members, and Eileen is confident that it is gong to work at her communities.
